In keeping with all things gifty, I am working on a scarf for my 16 year old nephew. He is brother to Dani, whose
scarf I am still plugging away on. I looked for a pattern I thought would be "manly" enough for a teenage boy. Fingers crossed, you never can tell with teenagers. I however, absolutely love how this scarf is turning out. The pattern is simple enough to do in front of the tv (not that I ever do, euhm), but looks quite nice knitted up.
Stats:
Pattern:
Basketweave scarf
Wool: Sirdar Bonus Aran, 80% acrylic, 20% wool (I have a huge 400g ball of this, it is so soft). I seem to be using a fair bit of it lately, yet the ball never seems to shrink.

I love the giant 400g balls, they really do seem to last forever don't they?!
ReplyDeleteThe scarf looks good, it definitely looks manly enough to me :)
Such a beautiful scarf! The pattern is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteNice! I really like the pattern!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great pattern! Definitely manly enough. :-)
ReplyDeleteI would think that as long as you block out the waviness of this scarf, the basketweave would be perfectly fine for a dude. :)
ReplyDeleteLove that pattern! Very nice and hope to see it when its finished. Thanks for sharing. Tricia @ CrunchyCatholicMomma.blogspot
ReplyDeletethe scarf looks great, love the pattern. I hate knitting scarves though....they seem to take forever!
ReplyDeleteThat's lovely - I've just faved the pattern!
ReplyDeleteI love the scarf! It is so hard to get good pictures of black yarn, so kudos on the picture.
ReplyDeleteI'd say your nephew should like it. At that age I was very open-minded about fashion, as long as it all was black!
ReplyDeleteThe scarf looks great, real manly, and that colour is just right for a young man. I'm currently working through a 400g ball of yarn, so far a big slouchy hat and two thirds of a big scarf and still half a ball left!

I agree, it's manly enough :) and a very interesting stitch pattern too
ReplyDeleteI love that pattern! It's turning out beautifully.
ReplyDeleteyou are brave to knit with black, it will be so lovely when its done!
ReplyDeleteI love the pattern for the scarf - it kinda reminds me of the Hurley logo.
ReplyDeleteIs black as hard to knit with in the evenings as is it to crochet with? I've been having quite a time working on "manly" gifts in the dark! :-)
